About Isca Church

Our Vision

We want to be a church that is family to all, seeing lives transformed by Jesus… a church that is a driving force for good in our city and local communities… a church where every member and our friends on the fringes are encouraged towards flourishing, using their gifts and calling to love and serve God and each other.

Our heart is to develop a strong and fruitful community within our church and with those who live around us, which means simply that we’re eager to share life with others in Exeter!

We are very involved in helping run the award-winning Beacon Centre in the north of the city where we are based. We believe this is where you would find Jesus – putting out the chairs, sitting chatting – serving and loving our neighbours.

Our Values

Isca Church Leaders

Isca is overseen by our church leader, Rich Cummings and the senior leadership team, Laura Cummings, Andy and Karena Mulcock, Matt Finn, Mark and Gemma McHutchon and Julian Alford.  The team is made up of men and women who seek God’s vision for the church and make decisions, in conjunction with the Trustees.

Who's Who?

These people work for Isca Church, if you’d like to get in touch with any of them, drop them a line over email.

Rich Cummings

Church Leader

Hi, I’m Rich, I’m married to Laura and we have three school-aged children. I love keeping a few books on the go at all times about theology, missiology, politics or history and love a good crime novel. I love playing and watching football, walks by the river, good food and board games.

Andy Mulcock

Pastoral care, regional and beyond

Hello there. I’m Andy Mulcock, married to Karena, with two grown up children. We enjoy living in Devon and Exeter, getting out for walks when we can. I’ll often be seen at St James’ Park supporting Exeter City, or on the trains enjoying less travelled stretches of railway line with camera at the ready. Seeing schools improve and communities transform is a joy too!

Sim Grimshaw

Youth Leader

Hey! I’m Sim and  I moved to Devon in 2013 and enjoy being outdoors, paddle boarding and playing football. I’m passionate about youth work and love to journey alongside young people in their faith and day-to-day lives. I’m married to Laura who also loves spending time with young people.

Kristina Webber

Children and Families Leader

Hi! I’m Kristina and I am married to Jon and we have two children, Daniel and Anna. I love to help children get to know Jesus and grow in their faith. I also love camping, cycling, arts and crafts and going for walks with friends and family. I also love a really good cup of coffee.

Rebecca Charlton

Operations Leader

Hi I’m Rebecca and have two school age children. When I’m not organising church life I enjoy baking amazing cakes and cookies. I am a huge Disney fan, whether it’s movies or parks, and there is almost always something Disney incorporated in my daily life.

Liz Straw

Communications Leader

Hi I’m Liz and am married to Karl and we have two adult sons. I love escaping into the world of stage and screen, gardening, reading, a kitchen disco, walking our dog and cycling in the glorious Devon countryside. Visiting the pub with friends is also great fun.

Angela Alford-Rukundo

Treasurer

Hi, I love going to musicals with friends and family and enjoy watching ballet. Dance is my passion and from a young age I learnt ballet, tap and modern and later taught them. I spent a few years working with a charity in Rwanda teaching office admin and I’m still in touch with friends, neighbours and the local church. One of the highlights of African life was trekking to see gorillas.

How it all started...

In the 1960s a small group of Christians began meeting in the Pinhoe living room of a house owned by Jack and Daisy Hardwidge, pictured. They had experienced something new of the power of the Holy Spirit and were looking to become a church that encouraged a greater freedom of worship and real experience of living together in community and fellowship. The group grew until the living room was too small and began meeting in a school hall and now meet at The Beacon Centre.
